About the artist

Hi, I’m Rachel, a.k.a Lilith Bloom®.

I’m an intuitively versatile contemporary artist.

My work is heavily inspired by music and their lyrics. Colours, shapes, textures and patterns emerge as I paint. A majority of the time I don’t have a clear idea of what I want to achieve, I just turn on the music and play. When the right song comes on and the lyrics that stand out are what the piece is titled after. If you follow my Instagram or Facebook pages, you will see videos of the process and finished product and are accompanied by the music and lyrics it is titled after.

Why the pseudonym?

The name “Lilith” has always been a favourite and the mythology of Lilith being Adam’s first mate/wife, who was deemed “unamenable”, turned into the snake and banished to the Garden of Eden, intrigued me. This story only found me as I was painting “There’s a light in your eyes” (2010), as one of Lilith’s totem animals is a peacock.

Bloom, because I always loved the musician Luka Bloom’s name. The spiritual meaning of blooming, to grow. to heal, to be open, coming to fruition. All of which art is for me.
